Pastor K. Paul Maurer is a Fort Wayne native. He and his wife Bethany, and 4 children, Adara, Quinn, Sam and Asher joined Avalon's church family on April 4th, 2016. The Maurer family loves anything that involves being outdoors! K. Paul and Bethany love being out in nature exploring God’s beautiful creation. Some like to go to the beach, they like to go to the woods! Their favorite place on earth is Brown County Indiana. K. Paul also loves music and has been a drummer since he was about three, so if you come visit the Maurers you will most likely find people making music.
Pastor Matt Bruce is married to his amazing wife Laura and they have three kids: Vera, Josiah, and Micah. Although Matt and Laura grew up in Indiana, the Bruce's came from 8 years of life and ministry in California where Matt served as a Missions Pastor at two different churches. One of the most fulfilling things for Matt is to have honest conversations with people about how our lives are messy, but that God loves us and is with us even in our deepest pain and struggles. You can always identify Matt by two things: If it is below 60 degrees, he is wearing a winter coat and there will always be a water bottle hanging from by his right side.
Pastor Cortney Hogan is a Fort Wayne native. Cortney and her husband Dan have been married since July 2013. They met at Taylor University, their alma mater, where Cortney studied Christian Educational Ministries. Before coming to Avalon, Cortney has worked as a youth pastor in Scottsdale, Arizona. She is an avid Indianapolis Colts fan, fantasy football fanatic, and enjoys teaching others about her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Cortney and Dan have an adorable daughter, Ruby Mae, a son, Knox Taylor, and a spunky fur baby, Maizy.
Pastor Cidney Callahan and her husband Tyler are from South Bend, Indiana. They don’t have any kids, but they do have a lot of love to show to their puppy Stanley. Cidney has been leading worship practically her whole life and nothing brings her more joy than getting to worship Jesus in community with a body of believers. Cidney and Tyler (and Stan) love camping, hiking, playing music, and watching probably too much Netflix. Cidney loves people with her whole heart, and she shows it through her sense of humor and her willingness to drop everything and help those she loves.
Nancy grew up in a Christian family on a dairy farm in the small town of Mayville, MI, and trusted Christ at seven years old. She remembers the overwhelming feeling of love and relief she felt, knowing that she'd never have to be without her best friend, Jesus, ever again. She moved to Fort Wayne to attend college, which brought her to Avalon for the first time. She also met her husband, Dave, and they were married in 1992. Dave and Nancy have two boys, Cody and Jacob, and love sitting down to watch the Lions, Red Wings, Tigers, or the mighty Michigan Wolverines.
